tallyED Voter Scoring System: Defined
With two simple, publicly available data points, tallyED creates a 'voter score' for all registered Florida voters. The first data point — registration date — is the date the voter registered to vote in Florida. The second data point — or series of data points — is the voter history information, which is a record of each time a Florida voter casts their ballot in an election. tallyED takes this public information, analyzes it, sorts it and produces the tallyED voter score.
Below, we've turned these 'voter scores' into easily identifiable and definitive terms — with simple, and technical (for the nerds like us), descriptions for transparency purposes. Hopefully, when tallyED users see their voter score, they will be encouraged to stay a 'perfect voter' or perhaps be motivated to climb out of an 'infrequent voter' score. Let's dive in:
Perfect Voter
Simple description: a voter who votes in every Florida Primary and General election in even-numbered years.
Technical description:
- - Any voter with a registration date on or before the 2016 Primary Election Book Closing Date of August 1, 2016, who voted in the 2016 Primary Election, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election & 2018 General Election.
- - Any voter with a registration date between August 2, 2016, and on or before the 2016 General Election Book Closing Date of October 18, 2016, who voted in the 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election and 2018 General Election.
- - Any voter with a registration date between October 19, 2016, and on or before the 2018 Primary Election Book Closing Date of July 20, 2018, who voted in 2018 Primary Election and 2018 General Election.
- - Any voter with a registration date between October 20, 2016, and on or before the 2018 General Election Book Closing Date of October 9, 2018, who voted in the 2018 General Election.
Frequent Voter
Simple description: a voter who has voted in 75% of the last four Florida Primary and General elections in even-numbered years or voted in one less election than perfect in the elections the voter has been eligible to participate.
Technical description:
- - Any voter with a registration date on or before the 2016 Primary Election Book Closing Date of August 1, 2016, who voted in three out of four of the following elections: 2016 Primary Election, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election or 2018 General Election.
- - Any voter with a registration date between August 2, 2016, and on or before the 2016 General Election Book Closing Date of October 18, 2016, who voted in two out of three of the following elections: 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election or 2018 General Election.
- - Any voter with a registration date between October 19, 2016, and on or before the 2018 Primary Election Book Closing Date of July 20, 2018, who voted in one out of two of the following elections: 2018 Primary Election or 2018 General Election.
Casual Voter
Simple description: a voter who has voted in 50% of the last four Florida Primary and General elections in even-numbered years or voted in two less elections than perfect in the elections the voter has been eligible to participate.
Technical description:
- - Any voter with a registration date on or before the 2016 Primary Election Book Closing Date of August 1, 2016, who voted in two out of four of the following elections: 2016 Primary Election, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election or 2018 General Election.
- - Any voter with a registration date between August 2, 2016 and on or before the 2016 General Election Book Closing Date of October 18, 2016 who voted in one out of three of the following elections: 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election or 2018 General Election.
Infrequent Voter
Simple description: a voter who has voted in 25% of the last 4 Primary and General elections in even-year Florida elections.
Technical description:
- - Any voter with a registration date on or before the 2016 Primary Election Book Closing Date of August 1, 2016 and voted in only one out of four of the following elections: 2016 Primary Election, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election or 2018 General Election.
Non-Voter
Simple description: a voter who has registered to vote, but does not have a history of voting in a Florida Primary or General election in an even-numbered year.
Technical description:
- - A voter who has registered to vote on or before October 9, 2018, but did not cast a ballot in the 2016 Primary Election, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary Election or the 2020 General Election.
New Voter
Simple description: a voter who has recently registered to vote in the State of Florida and has not been eligible to vote in previous elections.
Technical description:
- - Any voter with a registration date of October 10, 2018, to the present.
